Turban Helmet. Basic version.

Spread region: Golden Horde, Iran. XIV – XV centuries.

Mild Steel. Thickness: 2 mm. Hidden protection.

Most likely, the helmet is of Iranian origin, but there is an opinion that it appeared in Turkey. Typical turban helmets formed around the middle of the 15th century. Presumably their prototype served as hemispherical helmets. It is possible that under the influence of spherical conical helmets they received a cylindrical shape.

The greatest spread in the second half of the XV-XVI centuries they received in Turkey, Iran and Mameluke Egypt. The helmets had a forged dome forged from one piece of iron or steel.
The helmets reached the level of the bridge of the nose and had half-cuts for the eyes, over which narrow eyebrows sometimes were stuck.
