A well-known hand-held percussion instrument designed for working on stone, rocky soil, very dense soil, for destroying old masonry, and so on, a kind of hoe, for earth, garden, or stone work.
The pickaxe has a narrow hoe-like blade on one side, and a beak on the other side, and allows delivering strikes of great force on the processed material or an unlucky opponent, which can pierce any armor.
A polearm resembling a pickaxe is called a bec de corbin or horseman’s pick.
A tool familiar to everyone from the game Fortnite – it can be successfully used by gnomes and dwarves of all fantasy universes, colonizers of the Wild West, and even inhabitants of Hive Worlds or mining worlds of the Warhammer 40k universe.
