115.00

Material: ABS plastic, thickness 4-5 mm

Description:

The Morion is a European combat helmet from the Renaissance period, characterized by a high crest and wide flared brim that curves sharply both at the front and back.

The name of the helmet is believed to be derived from the Spanish word morra, meaning “crown” or “top of the head.”

The Morion likely originated in Spain in the early 16th century and was part of the armor for infantry pikemen in many European armies, including the “new model” regiments of the Russian army in the 17th century. It later became part of the regalia of royal palace guards in various European courts.

Expensive versions of the Morion were forged from a single piece of metal and often featured intricate etched patterns or engravings. Cheaper versions were riveted together from multiple parts and were commonly coated with paint to prevent rust.

The Morion was also used by colonial forces until the early 18th century.
