Dzingasa Plastic Helmet, “God of War” Series
€105.00
Material: ABS plastic, thickness 3-4 mm
The Dzingasa (陣笠 — “military hat”) is a type of Japanese helmet that originated from the Kasa, a traditional headgear.
The Dzingasa gained particular popularity in the middle and late Edo period (1603–1868). It was worn by various classes, from samurai to common people, with a special prevalence among ashigaru (foot soldiers).
These helmets came in a variety of shapes and materials, including iron, leather, paper, wood, and bamboo.
A defining feature of the Dzingasa was its short height and very wide brim. Often, the brim and crown (tūya) were fused into a single unit, making them hard to distinguish from each other.
Metal Dzingasa helmets were constructed from several segments, unlike European capelines, where the brim was attached separately from the crown.
Dzingasa helmets were commonly lacquered (most frequently black), and came with chin straps and padding for comfort. Additional neck protection was sometimes attached using extra rings.
