Celtic Plastic Helmet, “God of War” Series
€110.00
Material: ABS plastic, thickness 4-5 mm
Description:
One of the most popular and affordable helmet models.
When needed, the helmet could be tilted back, and the lower edge of the faceplate formed a visor over the face, protecting it from vertical strikes, similar to the brims of a chapel.
By the end of the 14th century, the bascinet lost its elongated conical shape and became more spherical. The sides of the helmet were shortened and lifted upwards, while the back was elongated with a slight smooth curve.
In the early 15th century, a slight raised spine appeared, and by 1500, a movable nape protection was added. This new form of the helmet became known as the sallet.
The earliest sallets closely resembled simple helmets with open faces but featured an extended nape. These early versions were primarily designed for simple and less wealthy infantrymen. Over time, as the shape became more defined and practical, the sallet gained greater popularity.
