Gothic mittens from Leeds (pair)

400.00

Western Europe XV century

Steel 3, thickness 1.5 mm
Brushed finish.
Leather loops for attaching a quilted glove.

Gothic mittens of this type appeared in the last third of the 15th century and represent an excellent option for protecting the hand and forearm.
Despite the absence of ribs, so usual for the Gothic style, otherwise the mitten with its contours and shape exactly creates a “Gothic” style of this element of protection.
The original has lost the part that protects the thumb and we have recreated it in a Gothic manner of that era.
– The large plates of the mitt distribute the impact perfectly over its entire surface, reliably protecting against injury. And a quilted mitten or glove worn under the steel absorbs the impact.
– The gothic mitt is less mobile and comfortable than the gothic glove, but its protection can be considered almost absolute.
