Milanese gauntlets of this type appear in the first third of the 15th century and are a great way to protect the hand and forearm.
Large plates perfectly distribute the blow over its entire surface, reliably protecting it from injury. A quilted mitten or glove worn under steel absorbs impact.
Milanese mitten is less mobile and comfortable than hourglass gloves, but its protection can be considered almost absolute.
Some variants of the Milanese mittens were not symmetrical. On the right (combat) mitten there were 3 segments for greater convenience of holding the weapon. There are only two on the left to hold the horse’s reins.
