The Nutny-IV excavation site in Veliky Novgorod presented archaeologists with a status find, according to the Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve.
According to the head of the work, senior researcher of the Center for the Organization and Maintenance of Archaeological Research of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve Mikhail Petrov, a bronze set of sword hilts was found on the territory of the medieval street.
“Weapons items are quite rare in urban deposits, and finds of such status items as bladed weapons are actually rare,” the museum informs.
According to the expert on medieval weapons S. Yu. Kainov, an employee of the weapons department of the State Historical Museum, the find is unique and requires special study at the desk stage of research.
The preliminary dating of the item is the XIII century.
