Shamshir saber with a brass set

590.00

A true Iranian Shamshir is a combat cavalry weapon (although it can also be effectively used in foot combat).

Its design is fully focused on harsh military practicality. As a result, richly decorated examples are rarely found in museum collections. Typically, the hilt of the saber has a recognizable curved shape and consists of two horn or bone scales, which are attached to a wide tang with metal rivets.

The blade is smooth, with rare exceptions, without fullers, featuring strong curvature, and often ends in a narrow, double-edged point.

The scabbard is included.

The blade is made of high-carbon alloy steel 65G. The blade is hardened (hardness 50 HRC).

Designed for HEMA

This model is not considered a cold weapon due to the lack of a sharp edge on the blade.

  • The blade is blunt (edge thickness is 2 mm).
  • Blade length: 79-80 cm (31.1-31.5 inches)
  • Overall length: 95-96 cm (37.4-37.8 inches)
  • Blade width at the guard: 3 cm (1.2 inches)
  • Blade thickness at the guard: around 6 mm (0.24 inches)
  • Guard width: around 15 cm (5.9 inches)
  • Weight: 950-1000 g (2.1-2.2 lbs)
