This bag solves a huge number of problems with carrying a large amount of things you need at any historical or LARP event. You can easily and naturally put all non-authentic things (phone, passport, tablet, cigarettes or bottles up to 1.5 liters in volume) into it and calmly carry them with you without attracting much attention to yourself. Moreover, the bag is an excellent addition to any costume, giving it completeness.
A bag of similar cut and purpose appeared quite a long time ago. It can be seen on many medieval miniatures, because such an accessory was wildly popular. You could put a little food in it if you were going to leave somewhere for a long time, because dragging a sack behind you is not entirely convenient. Backpacks had not yet been invented at that time either. So, this was the only correct solution in such a situation.
– And thus the bread bag was invented, which served as a load-bearing system for humanity of that era. The shape of the bag could be the most diverse, and it was worn over the hip on the right side.
– Over time, fashion changed, and such handbags faded a little into the background. They could only be found among the village population, the military or hunters.
– The most amazing thing is that outwardly the bags have practically not changed since the Middle Ages. A regular rectangular canvas bag with one or two compartments with a cover-flap that closed in front. Such an invention received the name “bread bag” because soldiers carried rusks (sukhar’) in it as their main food. It also fit a spoon and fork, flint and steel, thread and needle, and other useful everyday trifles
The loops on which the bag was held were either on buckles or solid. Also, various straps and rings were attached to the bag so that something necessary could also be fastened or tied to it
