The wand has a textolite core with a polyurethane and latex coating.
Hermione Granger’s wand is made of grapevine wood, 10¾ inches long and contains a core made of dragon’s heart vein. A girl bought this wand in 1991 before entering Hogwarts. Remarkably, the wands of wizards who know how to keep their emotions in check have a core of various dragon parts.
This wand served Hermione faithfully until late March or early April 1998, when Hermione, along with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, were caught by gamekeepers. And, of course, their wands were taken away. The last thing the grape wand in the hands of its mistress managed to do was to cast a stinging spell on Harry, which allowed the boys to delay identifying Potter, who was wanted by Death Eaters and their henchmen all over the country.
