An ancient Roman gladius short sword with a Pompeii-type blade. Artifacts of this sword were found during the excavations of the city of Pompeii, which died during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Gladius is one of the most recognizable swords of the Antiquity era. We know from books and films that Roman Legionnaires were armed with them, and they were also used in Gladiatorial fights and other military competitions.
