– Reinforced version of Large Milanese Pauldrons with additional protective plates.
– The glossy surface is perfectly suited for any further painting due to its even surface.
– Additional plates are removable and can be used as needed. On the pauldrons, the additional plates are attached with screw posts, which look like flat-head rivets on the outside but have the ability to connect and separate parts at will.
– Pauldrons with removable plates were typical for the second half of the 15th century throughout Europe. Most of the surviving Milanese pauldrons in museums have such reinforcement or attachment points for such reinforcement.
– Inside, the pauldrons have adjustable arming points for connection with plate arms or brassarts.
– Milanese Pauldrons had their own special shape, not repeated anywhere else.
– Each consisted of 4 or more (up to 7) segments connected by sliding rivets, and they covered not only the shoulder but also extended onto the back, some overlapping each other on the back.
– The right pauldron at the front was usually made smaller than the left one so that it was possible to rest a lance on a lance rest, while the left one, on the contrary, was made large, because in tournaments an additional steel plate was attached to it using a steel screw and wing nut or a pin with a cotter pin. Often both pauldrons had such plates.
– Large pauldrons have a great advantage due to the fact that they cover a large area of vulnerable spots, but somewhat restrict movements due to the large plates. But for plastic models, this is not so important, since they have very low weight.
