Found in mound No. 86 in the vicinity of Smolensk. It dates back to the 10th century.
Steel 3, thickness 2 mm.

One of the most popular helmets of Russia in the Early Middle Ages. It combines the identity of the settlements of Russia of the Viking Age, as well as the traditions of Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. The artifact has a lost facial detail and therefore it is possible to replicate it both without a protection and with a simple T-shaped protection.

Found in mound No. 86. It dates back to the 10th century.
Helmet of conical shape – 1 copy . .
It comes from a mound from the excavations of S. I. Sergeev.
The helmet consists of two iron halves connected by a large number of small rivets with a vertical iron strip, 3 cm wide. A reinforcement rib with a height of 0.5 cm is punched in the center of this strip. . Exactly the same ribs are applied to both side halves of the helmet.
The bottom of the helmet covers a crown with a height of 4, 2 cm, which was also fastened with a large number of rivets. An iron strip bent in half is riveted to the lower edge of the crown, the bottom of which is decorated in the form of loops for fastening the barmice. These loops are present throughout the circumference of the crown, except for the part where, when the helmet is worn, the face is located. (the length of this section is 15 cm.)
At the time of the discovery, the helmet was standing on scraps of small chainmail weaving belonging to the barmitsa.
