A classic hand-and-a-half sword of the High Middle Ages. Type XII according to Oakeshott.
In the conditions of role-playing fencing, it will be perfectly suitable for any warrior both for one-handed combat and for a two-handed grip.
The low wind resistance and light weight of the sword allow you to deliver fast and accurate strikes without accumulating fatigue in the hands.
It is believed that these swords have Germanic origins, as they are referred to as “Grans espees d’Allemagne” (“Great Swords of Germany”) due to the frequency with which they appear on German monuments of the 14th century. However, research has shown that similar swords are also shown in many Spanish depictions of the same period; they have also been found in several English depictions.
These swords were incredibly effective for slashing strikes on horseback or for two-handed use in combat on foot. These large swords were already found in the 12th century and remained popular throughout the 14th century, with some examples appearing even in the 15th century.
