The Targaryens were one of the aristocratic families of Valyria who knew how to command dragons; according to legend, they had dragon blood in their veins. His descendants ruled Westeros for almost three hundred years. In the course of Robert Baratheon’s rebellion, the Targaryens were overthrown, and Robert Baratheon became king.
The Targaryen banner depicts a three-headed dragon, red on black, with three heads representing Aegon and his sisters. Their motto is “Fire and Blood”.
