In fact, the name BASELARD is a distortion of the German basler [messer] (“Basel knife”). Accordingly, this dagger leads its pedigree from the Swiss city of Basel.
Having arisen in Switzerland, baselards in a short time spread throughout medieval Europe. And by the end of the 13th century, they were included in the mandatory equipment of a knight.

The total length of the dagger is about 40-41 cm
The width of the blade at the guard about 4.7 cm
Guard width 5-5.5 cm
Guard blade thickness about 5 mm
