Description
Bascinet with a visor.
Western Europe. Late 14th century
Mild steel.
Thickness 2 mm.
This model of the bascinet was found in archaeological excavations dating back to the 14th century.
But at the same time, its use by medieval warriors is confirmed by only a few miniatures.
Despite the small popularity, this type of helmet combines important qualities necessary for combat:
– Wide view
– Free breathing
– Good face and neck protection.
