In Russia, the name Shishak (Chechak) is first met in 1359 in the will of Prince Ivan Ivanovich; at the end of the 15th century, they were spread among ordinary warriors. Sometimes they were worn under the shelmas. From the middle of the 16th century, forged shishaks in the Moscow kingdom became the most widespread type of helmets, and from the beginning of the 17th century, together with iron caps, they received complete predominance.
