Description
There are quite a lot of swords of type XVIIIb, especially in collections in Germany, and they are often represented in works of art, especially in German painting from 1450-1520. In particular, there are a lot of them on the canvases of Dürer (1471-1528), a sword of type XVIIIa had a blade 85-90 centimeters long, with a section in the shape of a flattened rhombus.
The handle had an average length of 18-25 centimeters. Like swords of type XVIII, type XVIIIa was adapted for delivering both chopping and piercing blows.
