Wakizashi is a short Japanese sword (seto). It was mainly used by samurai and was worn on a belt. It was worn paired with a katana.
The blade is one-sided sharpening, low curvature. Wakizashi is similar in shape to a katana. Wakizashi was made with a zukuri (decoration) of various shapes and lengths, usually thinner than a katana. The degree of convexity of the section of the wakizashi blade is much smaller, so compared to the katana, this sword cut soft objects more sharply. The handle of the wakizashi is of classical cross-section, the same as that of the katana, but of shorter length.
