Anatomically shaped plate greaves are a logical continuation of the evolution of leg protection. At first, the protection of the shins was a simple semicircular shields without a pronounced anatomy, worn over quilted chausses or boots.
In further development, the shin guards began to acquire a more anatomical shape, repeating the shape of the human shin. According to pictorial sources, we can see that there were variants both with and without a rear sash.
In this form, plate greaves existed almost until the end of the XVI century.
