This type of iron infantry helmet belongs to the second half of the 1st century AD. The most famous specimen was found on the Rhine Limes, in Germany, in the Mainz-Wiesenau area. Now it is in the Worms Museum, hence its other names, such as the “Worms type” or the “Wiesenau type”. Similar helmets were found in the UK, in the Colchester area, and date from the period of the war with Boudicca. (60 -61 AD)
