– Messer (pol. kord, ger. Bauernwehr) — initially a long knife, also known as a slashing knife. A typical weapon of commoners in the Middle Ages and in earlier times, it was especially widespread in the 15th-16th centuries. In Germany it was known as a peasant’s (ger. Bauernwehr) or household (ger. Hauswehr) knife. Later, in the 16th century, a short saber was also called a messer.
– The weapon was characterized by a single-sided sharpening, a bevel on the back of the blade, and a developed crossguard.
– “Weapon of the common people”: Due to its simple manufacturing, the messer was accessible to a wide range of the population — peasants, townspeople, merchants, and poor nobility.
– In the 15th-16th centuries, the messer was legally recognized as an independent type of weapon along with the sword and saber. Its wearing was often mandatory for members of craft guilds (for example, in Silesia).
– Actively used by infantrymen, artillerymen, and militiamen, including during the Hussite Wars.

– Protected LARP Weapons are models specially made of soft polyurethane foam. These models are used at role-playing games where fiberglass or duralumin weapons are not allowed.
– Protected LARP weapons are soft and lightweight, so the risk of causing injury with them is minimal. They are used at events with a minimum amount of armor.
– Also, protected LARP weapons are excellent for night role-playing battles, where usually no other weapons are allowed.
