The wand has a textolite core with a polyurethane and latex coating.
Luna Lovegood received her second wand from Master Ollivander in April 1998, after their escape from the Malfoy estate. The wood, core and length of the wand are unknown. It is noteworthy that the wand was made by the wizard away from both his workshop and the girl to whom the wand was intended.
In early April, Dean Thomas, the goblin Hookwolf, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are captured by the Malfoys. Harry manages to summon Dobby the housekeeper for help. It is he who transports everyone to the safety of the shell cottage. In gratitude for his support while in captivity, the old master makes Miss Lovegood a magic wand.
The wand has served Luna well: she fought with it in the Battle of Hogwarts.
