Brigandine from Bamberg

725.00

Spring steel (by default – without hardening)
Thickness 0.8-1 mm.
Cover – wool. Base – cordura.
Steel rivets.

One of the most elegant, complex and beautiful brigandines, the making of which requires colossal skill and a lot of patience, is the brigandine armor from the statue of St. George in Bamberg.
This is not an archaic, barrel-shaped Wisby, but a real fitted brigandine with a bib in front.
The dating of this armor, in fact, as well as the statue itself, is 1360-1370.
The region is exclusively Southern Germany. Nowhere else were there similar breastplates riveted onto a fabric base from above.
The length of the brigandine was hip-length, probably to make it comfortable to ride a horse, and a more flexible chain mail skirt was used to protect the hips.
By the way, in addition to this very beauty, Bamberg is also useful in that, thanks to the fit, the weight of the armor is very well distributed over the body in it. The main load goes to the shoulders and pelvis, where, as you know, the strongest and widest bones are located, so wearing this brigandine is a pleasure.
Another cool feature of Bamberg is the chains on which the horseman’s sword and shield were hung. They are chained to the bib and look very authentic.

– A great option for HMB, maneuvers (both light and heavy), role-playing games, cosplay, as well as movies and photo shoots.
– Very comfortable and tightly wraps around the body, almost does not restrict movement, perfectly extinguishes even the strongest blows. It does not require a thick support due to the double overlap of the plates and, as a result, the distribution of the impact over a large area.
– Even if the fabric of the tire was cut by a strong blow to you, you can always sew it up safely, because the edges of the fabric almost do not crumble, which allows you to repair the tear without much effort and some special experience in sewing.
