Sabretache Bag (from German Tasche, a bag (hanging bag), or from the fully consonant Hungarian word “bag” (Hungarian: táska) of the same origin) is one of the few variants of carrying personal items on a belt that have survived to this day.
Most of the bags were restored thanks to the well-preserved flaps of these bags. The flaps of the Sabretaches were often decorated with overlays made of non-ferrous or precious metals. It was by their location in burials that the shapes of these beautiful handbags were restored.
Some part of the covers was made entirely of silver with a beautiful chased ornament and gilding.
It is assumed that this form of handbags was very common on the territory of Rus and its neighbors.
