Bambacion. Byzantium IX – XIII centuries

170.00

Byzantium IX – XIII centuries
Top – cotton, lining – cotton.
Stitch: 3 layers of batting.
Different color options are possible.

By default, ties are placed on the chest.

The use of this armor in Russia is confirmed primarily by images on the icons. For the 12th – 13th centuries, when Russia experienced strong Byzantine influence (including in the domestic and military spheres), it was quite possible to adopt light cloth armor to arm the militia. The lack of material finds is justified by the poor preservation of the materials from which the bambacion was sewn.
The use of the Byzantine bambacion is considered possible for the reconstruction of Russia X – XIII century without any restriction.
